The highest peak in the Var, also called “The Roof of the Var”, Mont Lachens peaks at 1,715 m. Located on the borders of several villages including La Roque-Esclapon, the summit offers a splendid panorama that stretches as far as the Sainte-Baume massif and Mont Faron to the southwest, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the summits of Corsica to the southeast - visible in clear weather - , and the mountain massif of Mercantour-Argentera to the northeast.
Mont Lachens can be reached by car or on foot along a track that starts in La Roque-Esclapon, as well as by bike (road or mountain bike). Its summit is the take-off point for para- and hang-gliding enthusiasts.
